  • Can users upload images or media content in the forums?

  • No, Champ does not handle hosting of images or videos (or any content other than text). However, using Markdown, the user can reference images or videos and Champ will render those inline in the posts.

  • any way to integrate a wysiwyg markdown editor for the quick reply box ?

  • Yes we have it planned to add a WYSIWYG markdown which will probably be added over the next 1-2 weeks. It will be a setting in the dashboard whether to enable it as some forums may want to keep things simple.

  • No, there isn't a way to embed YouTube or Vimeo. We may make it an custom option with the Markdown editor.

  • Our logo in top left corner of champ forum page has a broken link. We have notified Shopify who verified it was an issue in your coding. Will that be resolved soon? (ps. could you forum page be integraded with a standard Shopify 'page' -- so that our menu could remain on top? It would be a more consistent experience for our customers.

  • We'll be implementing a feature where users can customize their profile picture. By default currently, users' avatar is pulled from Gravatar.

For instructions on how to use Markdown, here's a good example: https://github.com/adam-p/markdown-here/wiki/Markdown-Cheatsheet

We've just added the ability to upload images. It requires a Cloudinary account. We'll be posting a new guide on how to enable this in our guides over the next few days at https://getchamp.net/guides/.

For the layout page question, the app is designed not to be rendered through the default Shopify theme layout. The reason for this is that the default layout loads a bunch of other JavaScripts from other apps at the same time, leading to a very slow page load time. As well, it makes it difficult to control the styling necessary for the forum. However, the header, footer, etc can all be customized. We'll post something in the Guides to detail how to do this.

  • Just to add, we haven't yet created a feature for users to simply insert a YouTube link and have it rendered on the page. We're looking at implementing a customized toolbar of some sort to allow for this.

How to format posts

Champ uses Markdown for formatting text in posts. Certain markup tags (eg. H1) are forbidden to ensure that pages remain semantically compliant. Other tags are automatically sanitized to ensure all content is secure.

  • Emphasis, aka italics, with *asterisks* or _underscores_.
  • Strong emphasis, aka bold, with **asterisks** or __underscores__.
  • Combined emphasis with **asterisks and _underscores_**.
  • Strikethrough uses two tildes. ~~Scratch this.~~
  • Links are added automatically, but can be formatted like so: [My link](https://mylink.com)
For more information, take a look at the Markdown Cheatsheet.
