  • Hope every one is well and safe. 2020 is turning out to be quite an interesting year, to say the least.

    As usual, a monthly thread is created to keep our customers informed about what new features are coming up.

    Upcoming:

    • Support added for custom avatar specified in a customer metafield (in Shopify)
    • Add moderator badge to avatar - June
    • Add upvote at the Topic level - June
    • Update Sitemap with user profiles - TBD
    • Improve forum caching - TBD
    • Better user on-site notifications (eg. Facebook style) - TBD
    • Improve search result design

    Deferred:

    • Timestamps for private messages - TBD
    • Investigate improvements for forum schema markup

    Considering:

    • Bulk updates to forums
    • Push notifications
    • Group (public) chatroom
    • User level bookmarking

  • Off topic, but if any one is interested in using a shared-inbox/help desk app that my team and I are working on, please reach out to me at support@getchamp.net with the subject line of Interested in help desk beta. Note that this has nothing to do with Champ, but is a completely separate application (that is not tied to Shopify).

    If you're running a business and routinely handle multiple customer emails, I believe this might be a good solution. It offers all the usual bells and whistles (auto reply, automation routing, multiple inboxes shared amongst team members) for a help desk focused app, but also a very affordable price (to be announced, but expect at least 50-70% discount from existing solutions).

  • Added support using avatar image if you have somehow allowed customers to set avatars within a customer metafield in Shopify.

    This feature is experimental, so please post here if you're interested in using this. I'll be fixing bugs on this over the next few days. Once the merchant who's requested this has given this a run through, I'll update the documentation.

  • Hello, wondering if your forum apl can show replies inline with the customer being replied to instead of just adding the moderators replies to the bottom of the list. Some of our customers ask questions and we click the little comment bubble to reply but it doesnt automatically add the customers name in the comment and just adds our moderators comment to the bottom. It would be preferable if it showed below the customers actual question.

    No, the forum does not show inline replies. It's not a feature that's planned as the core architecture of the app doesn't really allow for this. Historically in the past, I've said this will not be something that will be added. I may add this in the future, but this won't be in the short while.

    An inline reply will only be single level, should it be added. Again, there's no timeframe for this -- at this point it's at the stage of musing ie. I'm tinkering with the thought, but no concrete plans or commitments.

    I hope that helps provide some transparency in regards to the near/long term development roadmap.
