  • I recommend that we create an internal forum system whereby users can register or login via email or social media. This will allow users to track responses and will keep the shopify subscriber list clean. Right now, a lot of people are creating fake accounts inside my shop which is making my customer list dirty. By keeping the members of the forum separate from the shop will be a massive benefit.

  • I think if you're looking for a forum where your customer database is separate, then you're better off hosting it off of the app. The whole point of the app is that it's integrated with your existing Shopify store.

You should take a look at Discourse.

  • We recommend that you take a look at controlling the access to your forums. Here are the guides here:

Outside of this, the integration with the customer accounts in Shopify is an integral part of the design of the app. Unfortunately, this may mean that the app may not serve every one's specific needs.

As per the suggestion above, there are several other forum software that may be useful. Discourse is a great one and is one which we've used ourselves for other projects.

How to format posts

Champ uses Markdown for formatting text in posts. Certain markup tags (eg. H1) are forbidden to ensure that pages remain semantically compliant. Other tags are automatically sanitized to ensure all content is secure.

  • Emphasis, aka italics, with *asterisks* or _underscores_.
  • Strong emphasis, aka bold, with **asterisks** or __underscores__.
  • Combined emphasis with **asterisks and _underscores_**.
  • Strikethrough uses two tildes. ~~Scratch this.~~
  • Links are added automatically, but can be formatted like so: [My link](https://mylink.com)
For more information, take a look at the Markdown Cheatsheet.
