As usual, a monthly thread is created to keep our customers informed about what new features are coming up.

Upcoming:

• Clean up Improved markdown in the text preview - August
• Added forum view for tag list (tag view will appear like a forum topic page)
• Replies include quote of source message
• Add preference for link targets
• Migrated Champ app to faster servers
• Allow topics to be sorted (by views, latest post, created, upvotes) - August

This month we're having a special promotion. As a lot of new features have been added to Champ over the past while and software bugs can creep in, I'll be running a special promo where the merchant who helps me with reporting bugs will receive a $25 USD Amazon Gift Card as a sign of my appreciation.

Forgot to add that user (ie. non moderators) tagging has been added. This isn't available in this demo. To enable this, go to the Settings in the dashboard. You will need to add a list of predefined tags (so that users don't just start randomly tagging things with whatever value they want).

In the topic view, the individual text markdown seems to show up in the preview snippet. Would it be possible to strip any markdown from showing in the snippet previews? example here.

This is definitely something I'll need to address in the internal code. I've added it to my todo list and it's currently at the top of the list. I'll need to experiment, but should have this rolled out over the next 1-2 days (barring any hurdles).

Update:

I've added extra code in there just now, so it should parse out the image tags. On a side note, I noticed that your markdown for the img tag is missing an exclamation mark (which may cause issues).

Note that there is an exclamation at the beginning of the tag:

This is a quote test

This is a quote test

This is the reply to the quote :-)

Alright -- new feature today (Sunday). When you click on the reply icon to any message, Champ will not quote that exact message (and will automatically exclude nested quotes, so the post doesn't get too cluttered). Enjoy!

@champsupport is it possible to have all links shared in posts to open in a new tab?

Featured added: Link target

You can now specify links within posts to have specific targets:

• blank
• top
• parent
• self

These are HTML link target attributes. For example, a link target of blank will open all links in posts in a new tab/window.

This is now the default setting. To change this behaviour, head to the app's dashboard in Settings and search for Link Target.

A server migration was performed tonight. Previously, Champ ran on a set of virtual private servers, but is now running on its own dedicated servers. I'll be making a series of additional adjustments to add improved caching as well in the next while.

@champsupport I currently need to wait for many, many seconds before being able to submit a new post. At first I thought this was because I set the Minimum seconds between posts by same user to 10 seconds and enabled reCAPTCHA for all posts. But since this happened, I reduced the time to 0 seconds and deleted the keys from the reCAPTCHA fields in the settings, and I am still seeing this count down before being able to create a new post. Any idea on how I can remove or disable this wait time?
