Could we use the notification bell for only tagged posts. It seems redundant to have the bell also show “unread” post...

Ideally it would be best if the bell was for “followed” topics and “tagged posts”

Using it to show unread post and also having a unready post section tab and also the notifications bubbles for unread post seems somewhat excessive. 3 sections all saying the same thing but differently. That’s why I think the bell can be utilized for “tagged” @ posts only until the system improves and can allow for “followed posts”

Agreed. I think the notifications will be clearer. I'll be doing some redesigning this weekend to hopefully only show:

• Mentions
• Following posts

Notifications were improved this morning.

Probably the best way to see it is to be logged in to this forum and click on the bell icon. Basically, two tabs are created.

One will alert you to mentions and topics you're following.

The other will display unread messages.

@champsupport Only thing I've noticed is this. If I am tagged @ I get an alert in the notification. I don't get the notification if someone replies to my comment.

Keep it up. This feature is great for the retention of users.

Hmm... I think I have a solution for this. Let me play around with the code. Should be able to have something out this week or weekend.

Just a follow up on my own comment. Should have something out tonight!

Addendum -- It should now work so that users are tagged in the quotes. This should trigger a notification. :-)

Some minor refinement -- original authors automatically upvotes topic

A fairly big update. This one took a lot of time and is quite complicated (although it doesn't look like it is, at first).

You can now cross post to different forums.

Use cases: Imagine you have a topic you want to be seen across multiple forums. Previously, you would have had to post it in each forum separately.

Now: You can post it in one spot and click on Cross Post (moderators will see this button at the top of the topic) and select the forums you want this to be posted to.
