Planned Champ Features (February 2020)

As usual, a monthly thread is created to keep our customers informed about what new features are coming up.

Upcoming:

• More moderator controls for users (eg. points) - February
• Improve user-to-user (private) messaging page - TBD
• Allow use of generic avatar image for un-customized user avatar - TBD

Completed:

• Allow tagging of topics Some additional refinements needed to be added (eg. autocomplete, suggestion of frequently used tags), so stay tuned. Btw, only moderators are allowed to add/remove tags.
• oEmbeds

Deferred:

• Timestamps for private messages - TBD

Ongoing:

• Improve PageSpeed

Considering:

• Bulk updates to forums
• Push notifications
• Group (public) chatroom

• I'll come back with my public chatroom idea where more than 2 users can chat. The Discord widget I showed you creates too many error messages in the console, me not liking it...

What I mean by that is a Discord-like feature
Maybe the possibility to create threads/channels, available to certain users only (filtered by Shopify tags)
A public chatroom embedded in your app would engage the users to switch from Discord/Slack/Telegram to Champ
This will help my forum becoming a real community forum and will tremendously engage the users to use the forum rather than Discord

My point, I'd like a search box allowing me to private message a user, even though he's not connected live to the forum.
As long as he has an account on my website, I'd like to be able to message him

Enable Web/Mobile push notifications

Some users may prefer to be notified of a topic creation/update by their browser rather than by email

This would be great for mobile also (knowing the kind of business that I have and what you know I'd like to achieve)

Another idea

For the avatar by default, we have the choice between gravatar and letters
Can we already use a default image for the default avatar?
I'd like to use my logo basically for the default avatar image for guests and users without a profile image

oEmbeds work now but only for YouTube and Vimeo. Apologies for delay in releasing this -- we had YouTube for some time, but I rewrote some things and now can support multiple services (eg. Vimeo). Additional services can be added upon request -- please do so here.

For security reasons, you will need to enable this manually in the dashboard:

@brett Yes -- I think a generic default avatar (which you can upload) can be done. I've added it to the list.
